Hollyland Lark Max- can able to record 250m away? -100% authentic review
You are astonished at the prospect of a new brand rivaling the likes of DJI mic and RODE: the 'Hollyland Lark Max' wireless microphone.
Your idea regarding the Hollyland Lark Max will be clarified after reviewing this article. That's why I rank it higher, even above DJI mic or RODE. Until then, please be patient in choosing the best microphone for you.
Let's say this review article is written based on the long-term use of the Hollyland Lark Max. Therefore, there is no need to hesitate.
Hollyland Lark Max is a specialized microphone known for its unique characteristics. Now it's time to delve into its details. DJI Mic was my primary microphone, so I decided to make a comparison between Hollyland Lark Max and DJI Mic.
I used to think that DJI was the first brand to create innovative microphones with a charging case. However, after doing some research, I discovered that this concept was actually first introduced by Hollyland for their Hollyland Lark 150.
In terms of innovation, Hollyland is slightly faster than DJI, so there's no reason to underestimate Hollyland.
In the box, the Holyland Lark Max is protected by a medium-sized case.
Hollyland Lark Max's case |

The case contains two transmitters and one receiver. The Lark Max case is slightly larger than the DJI mic case, but the weight of their transmitters is the same at 34g. The Lark Max may have a slightly larger battery backup due to the bigger case compared to the DJI mic, but we can discuss this in more detail later.

Ø An USB (A to C) charging cable.
Ø A USB (C to C) cable for use it through your Android
phone.
Ø A USB lightning cable here for Apple users to use iPhones
or other Apple products.
Ø A special TRS 3.5 mm cable for its camera use.
Hollyland Lark Max case box
When examining the case, we find a very solid and plastic build. The bottom is covered with a rubbery coating, although the top is not.
Remember to use a USB Type-C port to charge the Hollyland Lark Max case. |
It creates a very good feeling in the hand. There is an LED light indicator at the bottom front of the box to verify the charging status. There is a USB-Type C port on the back of the box for charging.
Hollyland Lark Max Transmitter
Above the transmitter, it has a
large Hollyland logo. Also, there is a mash on the top side where the microphone is. It
has a clipping mechanism to clip. You can clip the microphone to a T-shirt or
shirt. The magnet's strength is excellent, preventing any risk of detachment.
To charge the transmitter, there is a USB Type-C port at the bottom. Additionally, you can connect it to the computer for updates. The transmitter has an internal recording button plus
8GB of built-in internal storage that can record for around 14 hours.

There
is a 3.5mm audio input jack.
Ø
There
is a power button that also works as a mute.
Ø There is a noise cancellation button.
Hollyland Lark Max Receiver
The receiver is different from the DJI mic receiver and has unique functionality. It features a ring-shaped menu button for navigation and an AMOLED touch display that is visible even in sunlight. The AMOLED display provides good visibility and allows for smooth operation, including interaction with Android apps through touch.
Even if your hands are dirty, you can still use the ring-shaped menu button to control the Microphone. On the opposite side of the AMOLED display, there is a 'Home' button. I really liked Lark's controlling system overall. I believe it's the best solution for touch control. You have the option to use touch or continue working with the side dial.
By the way, the microphones are automatically turned off when placed in the case and paired with the receiver when taken out.
Ultra specialties of Hollyland Lark Max
Since it is a wireless microphone, Hollyland claims that you can record by maintaining line of sight up to 250 meters away.
The line of sight should be clear from any interference within a 250-meter range. We confirmed that Hollyland's claim is accurate after testing.
However, if you record through the turnaround of body, then the body acts as an intersection, so there is a little trouble. But I don't think you ever need to record like this.
As promised, it can actually be recorded from a long-distance
Hollyland Lark Max's unique feature
Another unique feature of this microphone is its noise cancellation, which is not available in DJI mic. We conducted a noise cancellation test outdoors and found that it works very well at canceling noise.
However, the voice quality is slightly reduced. To activate the noise cancellation feature, simply press the button on the transmitter. When the LED status light turns green, the noise cancellation will start.
Despite the slight impact on voice quality, it still records high-quality sound outdoors, and the noise cancellation feature is a great addition.
Software side features of Hollyland Lark Max
The microphone has three recording functions: Mono, Stereo, and Safety Track.
Recording Mode |
If you need to record from a distance or in a noisy environment, you can use the internal recording function. This will help prevent interference and audio disconnection when moving from one location to another.
Internal recording button in the transmitter |
If your voice is not recorded in the camera (for example, if the receiver is connected to the camera), it will be recorded internally in the transmitter, allowing you to synchronize it later.
Of course, this feature is also available with DJI mic.
The great thing is that you can control the internal recording from the receiver. This means you can turn it off from the receiver, this feature is not available in DJI mic. I think it’s a well-thought feature. Because as a content creator, the cameraperson can turn it on or off through the receiver, without needing the subject to do the same.
Controlling transmitter internal recording through the receiver |
It also has a low-pass filter. You can turn it on or off from the receiver. The UI of the Hollyland Lark Max is clean and user-friendly, making it easy for anyone to control.
All Android app size options are visible by pressing the ‘MENU’ button.
All settings are self-explanatory, easy to use, and include all essential options.

Hollyland Lark Max Battery Backup
According to Hollyland, each transmitter can provide around 7.5 hours of battery backup. In comparison, DJI's mic offers 5 hours of battery backup, making Hollyland's 7-hour backup superior.
Check also,
Hollyland Lark Max provides 20 hours of total battery backup, while the DJI mic offers 15 hours. Consequently, in terms of battery backup, Hollyland Lark Max outperforms DJI.
One negative side of it
If I am a content creator, I can't see its receiver screen. It may seem like a downside, but it's not a negative for everyone.
The receiver is mounted on my camera. It would be better if I could rotate it here so that I can watch it face-to-face. However, this feature is not available in DJI. Truly, it's not possible to please everyone.
I have attached the Hollyland receiver to my camera. |
Additionally, the Lark Max accessories cable is very good. However, DJI does not need a cable. They have come up with an excellent solution instead of a cable connection (in the picture).

So, it’s all about the Hollyland Lark Max. If you think it’s suitable for you, then go ahead and own it.
