The Ezviz EP3x Pro Doorbell offers great features and performance. In this review, I will share my experience with the device, its key features, how well it performs, how to install it, and how it compares to other smart doorbells available.

Personal Experience: Easy Setup and Solid Performance

Having used the Ezviz EP3x Pro for a few weeks now, I can confidently say that this smart doorbell offers a great combination of user-friendliness, solid performance, and advanced features.

Out of the box, the doorbell comes with all the necessary components, including mounting brackets, screws, solar panel with kits, USB-C  cable, and a detailed installation guide. The process was relatively straightforward, and I didn’t run into any major challenges setting it up.

Once installed, the doorbell quickly connected to the Ezviz app, and I was able to start using it almost immediately. The video feed appeared crystal clear on my phone, and I found myself using the two-way audio feature to speak with visitors or delivery people at my door.

Key Features: What Sets the Ezviz EP3x Pro Apart?

1. HD Video Quality: One of the standout features of the Ezviz EP3x Pro is its impressive HD video quality. The doorbell captures crisp 1080p video by the bottom and 2K by the top camera, ensuring that you can clearly see who is at your door, day or night.

The upper footage is from top camera which provides you surrounding view and the below is from bottom camera that provides a clear view of floor

The night vision feature works well and has a good range to see the area around you, even in low light. You can choose between color night vision and black and white night vision or adverse modes.

2. Motion Detection: The doorbell has advanced motion detection technology. You can adjust how sensitive the motion detector is, which helps reduce false alerts caused by wind-moving bushes or passing cars.

3. Two-Way Audio: This feature lets you talk to anyone at your door in real-time, even if you're not home. The audio quality is good with only a small delay.

4. Wide Field of View: The camera provides a wide 162° field of view, offering a broader perspective of your front porch. It ensures that you won’t miss any activity happening around your front door.

5. Smart App Integration: The Ezviz app is user-friendly and allows you to access video footage, adjust settings, and interact with the doorbell remotely. You can also receive notifications when motion is detected, which adds to the overall convenience.

6. Solar system: This feature is attractive, especially for someone like me who loves clean energy. The Ezviz EP3x Pro comes with a solar panel that powers it using solar energy instead of battery power. This is a great benefit because it means you don't have to charge the battery with a cable. If you do need to charge the battery, you can connect it directly to the mains, as long as you have the right voltage for the doorbell.

Performance: Reliable and Consistent

In terms of performance, the Ezviz EP3x Pro Doorbell doesn’t disappoint. I’ve found it to be consistent in delivering high-quality video and accurate motion alerts.

The doorbell performs particularly well during the day, offering sharp and vibrant visuals, but its color night vision capabilities are just as impressive.

When someone presses the doorbell your phone is going to call you, if you answer it you're going to see them and the microphone is going to be enabled by default. This way you can begin your two-way conversation.

The two-way audio feature is functional, but there’s a slight delay in the transmission, which is common with most smart doorbells. Nevertheless, it works well for basic conversations, such as giving instructions to a delivery person to keep the parcel on the floor.

If you go into settings there's a lot you can change and customize. Some customizable features that you can make through the pp:

  1. You can choose the name of the doorbell
  2. You can choose between standard mode, power saving mode, or configure a working mode that basically allows you to set different time schedule
  3. You can also choose the wakeup sensitivity. When you set this high it picks up every car that drives past
  4. You've also got the loitering detection here
  5. The solar energy charging indicator is also shown in the app
  6. You can also enable intelligent detection (human-shaped detection) and customize the area that it counts it for. So this is good if you don't want to be notified about people walking past and just ones that come up to your door
  7. Having the option of plenty of customizing toggle and notifications
  8. Under audio settings, you can enable or disable the ring sound as well as turn audio on or off
  9. You can turn the doorbell indicator light on or off

Installation: Quick and Easy Setup

Setting up the Ezviz EP3x Pro was fairly easy, even for someone who isn’t particularly tech-savvy. The doorbell comes with a detailed manual, but the overall installation process only took about 20-30 minutes for me.

There are two types of mounting brackets for the doorbell: a flat one and an angled one. You can either drill them into place or stick them on using the adhesive on the back.

The most challenging part is mounting the doorbell and securing the bracket to the wall. After that, just connect the wires, attach the doorbell, and you’re done. Connecting the device to the Ezviz app is easy—just scan the QR code, and you can start using it.

App and Smart Features: User-Friendly, but Room for Improvement

The Ezviz app is intuitive and well-designed, allowing you to control the doorbell’s features from your phone. You can access live video, adjust settings for motion detection, and communicate with visitors all from within the app.

Push notifications are also quick and reliable, alerting you whenever someone approaches your door.

That said, one area where the app could improve is its integration with other smart home systems.

While it supports integration with Alexa and Google Assistant for voice control, there could be more seamless connections to other smart home ecosystems.

For example, setting up automation triggers to control other devices when motion is detected could elevate the user experience.

Comparison: How the Ezviz EP3x Pro Stacks Up

When compared to other popular smart doorbells, such as the Ring Video Doorbell 3 or Nest Hello, the Ezviz EP3x Pro holds its own. In terms of video quality, it’s on par with these competitors, offering 2K video recording by top camera and 1080p HD resolution by bottom camera, and ultra-performed night vision.

Both cameras of it are a fixed frame rate of 15.

Where the Ezviz EP3x Pro stands out is in its price point. It tends to be more affordable than the Ring and Nest Hello models while still offering many of the same features.
